How are we Monastic?
When you hear the words ‘New Monastic’ or ‘Monastic Workshop’ do you wonder how we are monastic at Abbey Way? This workshop discussed how to recognize what these words mean and how we live into monasticism as part of our everyday life together.

The Rule of Benedict:
This document and way of life determined the shape of monasticism for centuries and helps to shape our life together at Abbey Way. Explore the Rule of Benedict, it’s disciplines, and the other benefits of a life given over to God.

Dignity of Work:
Most of our days are spent in some kind of activity or work. How should we work? How can we make our activities places of transformation and Divine Presence?

Keeping Rhythm with God: In our Days, Weeks and Years:
Author and Benedictine oblate Kathleen Norris quoted a monk once as telling her, “Our prayer forms us.” Discover how he rhythm of monastic tradition of praying the hours makes that possible and what a wonderful formation it could be!

Contemplative Living:
Living a contemplative life is more than being quiet and still. Explore what it means to live a contemplative life with notes from the lecture and quotes used as the basis of the discussion.

Balance and Moderation:
An excercise reflecting on balance and moderation in our daily activities.
