Mission Statement
Abbey Way seeks to become a community of Christ-centered people that are transformed through intentional discipleship and willing service.
Values of a Vibrant Community of Faith
Intimacy in Relating
We choose to create space for deep and significant relationships with God and others. A personal relationship with God and healthy relationships with each other are essential to spiritual growth. We recognize that true relationship only happens over time and starts with the courage to be available, willing, and open. This posture cultivates intimacy, which is foundational for our obedience to God and service to others.
Intentionality in Living
We choose to center our lives in Christ through purposeful living, and treasuring each moment and relationship. We believe intentionality makes it possible for us to live a meaningful life on both an individual and a corporate level. For our community, this is a key component of stability, transformation, and service.
Openness in Loving
We desire to be open and loving toward each person. We understand this radical availability will require sacrificial willingness as well as our continued growth and transformation. We believe this is the way Jesus has called us to live and serve.
THREE STRATEGIES
The Rule of Benedict has shaped life in monastic communities for over 1500 years. Abbey Way’s strategies reflect an adaptation of Benedict’s Rule as we seek to apply it to our life together.
Abbey Way’s three strategies are:
Commitment to stability in/through a way of life, particular location and group of people
Commitment to a journey of transformation
Commitment to obedience in/through listening to God and each other
